A. COLLEGE LIBRARIAN
Job Summary:
The College Librarian shall be responsible to the Provost for the administration of the College Library, and coordinating the Library services in the teaching unit of the College. The candidates for the position is expected to among other responsibilities; preform overall library policy, contacts and liaising with other departments on book requirements, prepare library budgets, give professional advise on library matters and perform any other functions which the Council or Provost may so direct.
Qualifications:
The Candidates for the post of College Librarian must possess the followings:
A good Bachelor’s Degree with Master in Library Science (MILS) from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least 15 years cognate work experience in higher institution, with registration with Professional Library body: Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), or a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Library and Information Science with at least twelve (12) years cognate work experience with evidence of registration with Professional Library Body; and
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT);
- Present evidence of sound human relations
- Professional competence, industrial integrity, efficient management of human and material resources;
- Must be Chief Librarian or Deputy College Librarian for a period of not less than five (5) years in an institution of higher learning.
- Must not be above the age of Fifty-nine (59) as at the time of taking up the appointment; and
- Candidate must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals equivalent to that of a Chief lecturer.
Other Requirements
Vision and Mission Statement: The candidate must submit in clear terms, in not more than two (2) pages his/ her Vision and Mission statement for the College in the next 5 years.
Tenure of Appointment: The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years only, beginning from the effective date of appointment.
Salary: Consolidated salary of the Federal Colleges of Education will be applicable.
Condition of Service: The successful candidates will be entitled to the privileges and benefits of Principal Officers as specified in the terms and conditions of service for Staff of Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria and other conditions which may be approved from time to time by the Governing Council of the College in accordance with the Colleges of Education Act, and in consultation with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
B. ACADEMIC STAFF POSITIONS
THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS EXIST IN THE FOLLOWING SCHOOLS AND DEPARTMENTS
1.0 Chief Lecturer (CONPCASS 09):
The candidate must possess a good doctorate degree in relevant field(s) from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least 15 years of teaching/research in a higher institution, in the following Departments: Geography, Political Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Fine and Applied Arts, Metal Works, and Wood Works.
2.0 Principal Lecturer (CONPCASS 08):
The candidate must possess a good doctorate degree in relevant field from a recognized institution with at least 12 or 9 years of teaching/research in a higher institution in the following Departments: Geography, Political Science, Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Physics, Business Education (OTM), Fine and Applied Arts, Metal Works, Wood Works and Primary Education Studies.
3.0 Senior Lecturer (CONPCASS 07):
The candidate must possess a good doctorate degree in relevant field from a recognized institution with at least 9 or 6 years of teaching / research in a higher institution, in the following Departments: Geography, Political Science, Social Studies, Chemistry, Physics, Business Education (OTM), Fine and Applied Arts, Metal Works, and Wood Works.
4.0 Lecturer I (CONPCASS 05):
The candidate must possess a good First and Master Degree or doctorate in relevant field from a recognized institution with at least 6 years of teaching / research in a higher institution in the following Departments: Geography, Political Science, Social Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business Education Studies (OTM), Fine and Applied Arts, Metal Works, Wood Works, and Primary Education Studies.
5.0 Lecturer II (CONPCASS 03):
The candidate must possess a good First and Master Degree or doctorate in relevant field from a recognized institution with at least 6 years of teaching / research in a higher institution in the following Departments: Geography, Political Science, Chemistry, Physics, Fine and Applied Arts, Metal Works, Wood Works and Primary Education Studies.
6.0 Lecturer III (CONPCASS 02):
The candidate must possess a good First and Master Degree in relevant field from a recognized institution with at least 3 years of teaching / research in a higher institution in the following Departments: Geography, Political Science, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics Physics, Business Education Studies (OTM), Fine and Applied Arts, Metal Works, Wood Works, Education Technology, Early Childhood Care Education, and Primary Education Studies.
7.0 Assistant Lecturer (CONPCASS 01):
Candidate must possess a good bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division (2/2) in relevant discipline plus NYSC/Discharged Certificate. Candidate must be Computer Literate and have Education Qualification in the following Departments: Geography, Political Science, Social Studies, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Agricultural Science, Business Education (OTM), Metal Works, Wood Works. Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE), and Primary Education Studies.
NOTE:
i. All candidates seeking appointments to the Lecturer Cadre must acquire teaching qualifications in addition to the academic qualifications.
ii. Minimum entry requirement for Lecturer Cadre is Second Class (Lower Division).
iii. Evidence of registration with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is compulsory.
iv. Masters’ degrees acceptable for appointment for Lecturers are Academic Masters’ degrees in core teaching subjects.
v. Certificate of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
vi. Evidence of Proficiency in ICT.
vii. Applicants who are physically challenged should state the nature of their disabilities.
